One would not be exaggerating if they listed Sheamus’ two stints as the WWE Champion amongst the most underwhelming and disappointing title reigns in recent memory.
Backed into a creative sludge at the back end of 2009, WWE decided to swerve everybody by booking the then-rookie Sheamus over John Cena only months into his career. The problem was the way they did it. Cena fell on his “arse” and The Nexus beat the sh*t out of Cena. Sheamus then ran away for 2 months each time.
